Breath of Fire 4 won't go widescreen

I tried other games in widescreen, and they work fine. But BoF4 just refuses to leave the 4:3 ratio, and I don't understand why. I tried playing with the settings, but nothing :(
Any clues?

are you talking about widescreen or Change aspect ratio?

Wide screen feature works with 3D objects where calculation is changed in live to change their aspects ratio, if game use massively Sprites or copy blocks this won't works

Thanks for replying.
It's "Widescreen". BoF4 uses sprites for its characters, but 3d for background etc, so i thought the widescreen hack was a perfect match for it. Am I wrong?

Does this mean for some games the widescreen hack won't even change the ratio of the image?

There is two options for different goal:

- Widescreen: is a trick to deform initial 3d object to draw them with correct aspect ratio fir 16/9 16/10 screen. When set all will be deformed except simple memory copy which can be a background on some games or more.

- Screen size or Ratio: Is 2 options which let you tune screen ratio. Basicly to reach 4/3 ratio like original ps1 but you can tune it precisely by using ratio x and y from misc and video menu.

Yes, I know the difference. But what I'm saying is, while other games (such Vagrant Story) is shown in 16:9 when the widescreen hack is actived, the same is not for BoF4, which keeps the 4:3 ratio even with the hack activated. And I'd like to understand why, since this game uses 3d environments (among other things).

it's 3D isometric on BOF4, not real 3D, and if it use massively 2D object the trick won't works, but let me check this
