With mask bit enabled, text becomes white, but everything else is black.

Enabling Lazy update doesnt work... FPse doesnt remember the setting.

Pete burnet actually made the 'lazy update detection' fix specifically for this issue. If I remember correctly, if fixes the menu issue but it also makes some other transparent issue wrong. But people said it was acceptable to get menus working. As for using the fix in Fpse - I've noticed that a lot of the special fixes... The specific ones that are for specific issues - don't work. I don't mean they don't stay enabled, I mean they don't work. I haven't tried thus fix for this game so I don't know if this one does or not. But - when a setting doesn't stick usually toy just have to set it then restart fpse. Have you tried that a couple times? As for mask bit - it usually does nothing. When it does do something it's usually dramatic. For this game it sounds like it ultimately doesn't help.

Feel free to talk about OpenGL issues in my OpenGL thread (see my signature).

Mask bit does its job I think. Makes text white again (its dark gray without it)

The Lazy setting doesnt stay on even restarting (I tried many times)

What foes just 'lazy update' do? Were you to get that setting to stay on? Likely you need to restart fpse immediately feet setting it.

I doubt that lazy update stays on until you come back to the settings as it seems to change nothing. The recent update didn't fix that...

Lazy update seemed to work before, as I read in old comments that activating mask bit and lazy update made the game perfect.

Also, considering that this game revolves around talking and fighting, there are text boxes all the time. And one option is Software mode (with gray, almost unreadable text) and the other is OpenGL (not having a background while there's a text box present, which is awful).
