I am also having this issue with my s2. I have had this problem before when I tried to install the opengl plugin. I would click download from internet, it would download and ask to restart fpse to finish install. I restart and it freezes at the select iso screen. Tried reinstall couple of times, but always same thing happened. I've heard the s2 has problems with opengl so I thought maybe it was just incompatibility and gave up. Just for reference, non-opengl worked perfectly.

Now, with the latest update, it freezes at the first screen. It froze at select iso screen, I tried reinstall and it froze at accept terms and conditions/select bios screen. I not sure what's causing it, but considering the update description included supposed opengl fixes, perhaps this is the problem. Hopefully will get this fixed asap.

anthony, does fpse crash all the time, or does it only crash when you use opengl (choose opengl from the misc menu)?

OK, did a logcat as suggested and managed to fix the issue. There is an option in settings>developer options called 'Don't keep activities' which destroys activities whenever you leave an app; I usually have this checked to save on battery usage. It was unable to destroy the activity and caused a Fatal exception. I don't know why it was trying to destroy an activity of an app that I was using. It's only meant to stop apps running needlessly in background when you are finished with them.

Anyway, maybe anthony could check if this works for him too and post his results so others can know.

edit: Managed to get opengl mode working too. Maybe switching from software mode to opengl mode meant that a process that fpse needed was terminated, i.e. perhaps the phone thought the software and opengl modes were 2 different apps? In any case, unchecking don't keep activities solved the issue.

Jetb88 - what Android ROM are you using? Stock ROM or cooked ROM.

Glad it worked for you too. Seems strange that it should affect fpse; maybe the devs could include a warning about this option in an updated manual/FAQ if one exists.
