Hey guys.

I have a Sony Xperia U, running android 2.3.7, GPU Mali400p running Metal Gear Solid and few other games perfectly on FPSE.

Then I tried to play FF9, but it seemed very pixellated, as you can see here:

So I tried to use the OpenGL plugin but with it, fpse KEEP crashing, resetting and then asking for an ISO to insert right after the Sony logo ad the start of the boot :| I insert an ISO, it starts, but when it arrives to the Sony logo it reboots, and so on...

And this happens with every game...

Any tips?

Thx guys

That is what the game looks like through the software emulator. If you can get the opengl plugin working it looks wonderful. You have the same gpu as I do, look a few pages back for the settings to use and it should work.

I followed the settings listed here:

But nothing changes, actually also with everything disabled it still crashes. :geek: What's your smartphone anyway?

Edit: now it boots, I used the dynamic interpreter option

For me it lags severely everytime I enter a battle when the enemies as well as my characters have to load up. Do more people have this? I play on my Galaxy SII.
Also I don't find it playing as nice as in software mode because it just doesn't lag there.

yes, there are slowdowns during the battle swirl, and the initial battle load. not much can be done about it that I know of. It happens to me too, but with frameskip it's acceptable for me.

See my opengl thread (see the link in my signature). Some people were able to use chainfe3d to get opengl to work. There are trade-offs however - lower gfx quality to make games more compatible / higher fps. you'll have to try for yourself. Requires root access.

Final Fantasy IX on Nexus 7

Postby UKTechSquad » Fri Sep 07, 2012 9:52 pm

Hi

Im looking to play FF9(IX) on my Nexus 7, which I have rooted to enable six axis control. Works brilliantly.
I cannot get FF9 to load. It gets to the Playstion logo and freezes. I can play Parappa the Rapper & Ridge Racer so emu is OK.
I have a PSX and the original game, I've tried a direct rip of the discs to ISO using Alcohol 52% on my PC. I've also downloaded the disc ISOs from
roms4droid.com (which are identical size in bytes so they are definitely good). No good. Just freezes and doesn't load the game.

I've tried loading ePSXe on my PC. Again, Parappa & Ridge work. But using the CD option, or the ISOs I created & the ISOs I downloaded just freeze.
Help! I want to play FF9 when I'm out and about on my droid.

Any ideas guys? Anybody else had FFIX working on Nexus 7 with an emu?

Thanks

Are you from Europe? Reason I ask is to check if you have a European copy of FFIX.

Perfect, easy fix. Follow my instructions here. The basic problem is that some PAL games have protection which stops the game from booting on emulators and chipped PlayStation's. You need the subchannel data to get it to boot in FPse so look at the post linked and it should instruct you how to get the required data.

If you need me to give easier to follow instructions then let me know.
