Postby User123 » Sun Jun 17, 2012 9:55 am

I would like play a game with LibCrypt protection.
To Play this game I must load a .sbi file.
How I can load a .sbi file for a game?

sbi files must be named as iso filename and placed into the same directory. FPse Will load it automatically.

Do not work :-(
I have this game http://redump.org/disc/733/

Tested with:
/Final Fantasy VIII (Germany) (Disc 1)/Final Fantasy VIII (Germany) (Disc 1).cue
/Final Fantasy VIII (Germany) (Disc 1)/Final Fantasy VIII (Germany) (Disc 1).bin
/Final Fantasy VIII (Germany) (Disc 1)/Final Fantasy VIII (Germany) (Disc 1).sbi
Start from .cue --> Not work
Start from .bin --> Not work

rename to:
/Final Fantasy VIII (Germany) (Disc 1)/1.cue
/Final Fantasy VIII (Germany) (Disc 1)/1.bin
/Final Fantasy VIII (Germany) (Disc 1)/1.sbi
Start from .cue --> Not work
Start from .bin --> Not work

rename .bin to .iso and tested again. Do not work.
Then I tested it with psx4droid and it works...
Can you please check it?

user, have you tried with any other games? I don't have any games to test or I would test to see if I could replicate your issue.

Yes I tested this game: http://redump.org/disc/6198/
and it works.
But only, because it not have LibCrypt (have no subchannel)

The .sbi file for every game you can download from redump.org, if the game have LibCrypt.

I can confirm the issue User123 is having. For some games .sbi loading appears to be fine, Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver (PAL), Paradise Eve II (PAL) and Spyro 2/3(PAL) are examples of games that work with the .sbi file in the same directory. However, all 4 discs of Final Fantasy VIII and Final Fantasy IX don't appear to work with the .sbi files. At least they don't work for PAL games. Could there be any reason for this? I would quite like to get this sorted because I would love to play FFIX on my phone. The only PAL pff patches there are include trainers which don't work with the analog controller so you have to switch between digital and analog controls every time you start the game which is a pain in the arse.

I tested both my copy of the .sbi files AND the .sbi files from redump, none appear to work. What is it that makes FFIX and FFVIII so special in this regard?

EDIT: I investigated further into this issue and found that by using ePSXe with PEOpS CDR plugin and selecting the .sbi file to be read resulted in the games loading perfectly fine. However FPse seems to ignore the .sbi files that are in the same directory with the same name, minus the different extension of course. I've listed games that I've tested below:

Final Fantasy IX Disc 1 (PAL): Black screen at launch - Works with ePSXe with PEOpS CDR plugin ONLY if .sbi is selected in the config
Final Fantasy VIII Disc 1 (PAL): Black screen at launch - Works with ePSXe with PEOpS CDR plugin ONLY if .sbi is selected in the config
Resident Evil 3: Nemesis (PAL): Freezes at the gore warning screen - Works with ePSXe with PEOpS CDR plugin ONLY if .sbi is selected in the config

All of the images are in exactly the same format, cue, bin and sbi with the same name.
Ragnarok: i5 750 @ 3200MHz | Titan Fenrir | MSI P55-GD65 | 8GiB Vengence 1600MHz CAS 9 | 1GiB 6950 DirectCU II | 60GB Crucial M4 | Samsung F3 500GB | Samsung F3 1TB | Seasonic X-750 | X-Fi XtremeGamer | HAF932 | Win 7 Pro
