can FPSE Support ".z" image file?or next version?

Postby hfxiaozi » Sun Jun 26, 2011 5:18 am

I used to run FPSECE on my PPC.

Now i've got an Android Phone and installed FPSE for Android v0.10.54 app.
I find that ".z" image files can't be loaded any more so i read the FAQ:"Supported image file formats: .iso, .bin, .nrg, .img and also full CD image file." :!:

I've searched this forum and found that ★schtruck★'s new post"FPse for android Localized to many different languages!"
I download the res.zip and find FAQ.HTML says:"Supported image file formats: .iso, .bin, .nrg, .img, .Z. (all must be done in Raw format 2352 bytes per sector."

Does it meant that ".z" image files will be supported in the next version of "FPSE for Android"??? :?:
I'm looking forward to it! ;)

what do you mean..? fpse still and always been support .z files.. I use pocket ISO to compress my roms and it's been great, lesser space means more games on my sdcard :D

I only use normal compression and never ripped anything...

i have tried to ripped xa stream to mp3 but the performance gained is not as promised, so i better leave it as it is for better compatibilty :D
but i dont know if ripping into mp3 on fpse make the sound become stutter or choppy since my phone's a mid range...
*wether i compressed or not the sound especially music always choppy n stutter so i cant tell.. :(

hope the opengl support would give my device a performance boost.. and battery friendlier :D

Fpse has always supported .Z games, but with a .Z ou need the .Z.Table to be sure it will work.

BUT most of the time, if you ripped sounds to MP3 when compressing your file with pocketIso, you won't have a big part of the sounds and musics in the game (mostly music) because Android still can't handle this. The game will work perfectly but no soundtrack.

Sorry to bump an old tread, is this still the case with regard to the soundtrack? I'm asking so I don't waste any more time trying to get it to work... many Thanks in advance.

I find it removes the audio altogether so if a game has multiple tracks then any kind of compression breaks it.

Thats what I thought mate, but thanks for the reply. I guess if I want the full audio I will have to stick to uncompressed bin and cue files. Works fine running from the cue file.

Just checking I wasn't doing something wrong this end.

If Schtrucl adds zip support like he said then pocketISO won't be required needed for compression so fingers crossed hat it will happen.

I think Nexus 7 users will always appreciate it. Let's hope more tablet and phone designs don't start ignoring the microSD slot

I doubt it. The only manufacturers that would are ones that want to control the device fire proprietary reasons. Android id open source, and there's too many users who care about being able to mood their devices. The sdcard slot is a selling point .. Always was, even before Android. I would be surprised if there was a move to not include it .. Unless the onboard storage gets so big that there's a assumption more storage won't be needed (were getting close). Even then ... Sdcard slot is used for modding. Take that away and many people still go elsewhere, which is the glory of Android (vs apple, lots of competition in hardware manufacturers).
