yes, psx4droid is a Sh.. but FpseCE on an HTC HD2 is already full speed for everythting but some 5 or ten tested games out of 350, that's why I was saying that speed won't be the great achievement of an Android port, at least not for people who have/had a WinMo with Snapdragon

The HD2 is running on Snapdragon, right?
But what about the slower phones? The ones with 500-600-700 Mhz CPU's.... plenty of them on the market. Can we expect to play some smaller games on those?
(X10 Mini, 600 Mhz, running on 2.1, 240x320 resolution... any chance?)

I see that the original WinMobile version has pretty low requirements: 400 Mhz CPU, 25 Mb+ free memory
Not sure about this, but ... Does that translate onto Android Phones as well?

You will be able to play it of course, but at a greatly reduced frame rate. Not always possible to code around hardware limitations (see GT5, most console games, etc.)

Maybe Android opens up more optimization possibilities or something, so it might even be faster. I dunno just a wild guess.

It's not even only about "full speed". Also using more optimisation, emu will use less processor/GPU so it wont dain more battery juice. Its also important.

But what i ment, is that there are plenty of faster phones on android then on WinMo 6.x (like Motrolola Droid 2/X (dunno if much faster than HD2), Desire HD, NexusS, GalaxyS and others (also dual-core on tegra2 in v. near future)) so it would be nice to have benefit of new technology like GPU acceleration which would propably make emu to use less power and work on slower phones better ;) (we are not alone on Android, there are even more phones in 600mhz or 800mhz, remember about them) ;)

Btw. how's about payment? Will there be like "No-saving/loading, w/o some features free and full-stuff + faster updates paid version? AFAIK it on WinMo that way, but no1 said anything about Droid version yet"? ;)

Also, cant w8 to get it on my SGS and play some gr8 games ;)

Btw. if trends will follow actual way, we may see quad-core phones in near future (like 1-1.5years) from now, do you think, just in theory guys, do not laught, if some1 as good as schtruck would make ps2 emu with maybe even more optimisation (such as this "gpu acc" which i talk about all the time), would it run slower games? I mean... 4-core's 1.2-1.5GHz with v. fast GPU (+5times better from tegra2 AFAIK)? I didnt run any emu on PC, but i think on DualCore 2.0GHz (i'm not making any suggestion like 2*2.0 = 4*1.0 with diffrent architecture) with medium GPU would run slow or better some games ;)

OK, what are you smoking :D I bet we won't see quad-core phones for like 3-5 years.

Fpse on Android will be great, but we'll also need a DualShock 3 driver like we have on WinMo :p
It would be perfect !

2Ghz dual cores are expected to be integrated in phones on early 2012 for High end devices. No quad core CPUs on the production roadmaps for smartphones yet, and not even known as running projects, when 1.25Ghz dual core snapdragons SoC are ready for more than a year and not yet in any actual product. We will have to wait more it seems.

GPU power is going to be improved much more than CPU power this year. GPU accelerated GUI for Android 3.0 (for tablets) and supposedly 2.4(for smartphones) will open much possibilities.

@RippeR Many 600MHz phones don't support OpenGL ES 2.0 (generally because of the lack of a real dedicated GPU), so no acceleration for them.

For the PS2 Emu, with a correct (at least a Core 2) dual core @ 2Ghz, 2D games will run playable, but just a few 3D games, even with a GPU 300 times more powerful than SGX540 and D3D10/11 acceleration + x86/SSE optimizations. The main bottleneck comes from the CPU. Many games don't even run @ fullspeed with a 4.5Ghz quadcore. Many many work to do, it's much more complex than PSX emulation. Don't expect it to run on tablets/smartphones before many years.

@up & rest

http://www.xbitlabs.com/news/mobile/dis ... pport.html
http://www.tomshardware.com/news/omap5- ... 12152.html

And so on and so on... :) Its not full "quad-core" but with all 4 cores online should be "pretty" fast ;) And if they announced it, it cant be 5-8years from now. They have to do something better than Tegra2, coz they lost many $ by letting nVidia made dual-core cpu's while they still didnt have any ;) It maybe not be 2011, or 2012 but i think, that on early 2013 or smthing like that, we will see first devices with quad-core's cpus ;)

As for OpenGL in lower-class smartphones - youre obvious right, but - i didnt do any research or smthing to proove it, but i just think that way - some of slowe one's like 800mhz or even maybe 1 with 600mhz may have (or may be realeased on market if devs will start use gpu acc) dedicated gpu. Eighter way, someone still will use it. If there is a power - why not to use it... ;)

As for PS2: but realise that - AFAIK - emus that are developed now, don't use gpu acceleration which we all (in "buisnes") know that they prove to be worth trouble writing algo's that use them ;) Not for all type of computing, but some things could be done better by GPU giving in the same time more cpu speed for other things - you get 2 things from 1 "feature" ;))

Eighter way, FPSe looks amazing and i really would like to have it already :)
Good luck with developing Schtruck ;)

Blablabla...
schtruck wrote:for now it' OpenGL-ES 1.1. but there is still many optimisation to apply. The good is that there is a Big Gap, so i expect good result soon. GFX are marvelous...

FPSE will be using 1.1 for now, which slower devices are able to run!
Maybe you know about these things, but you don't know exactly about FPSE!

@edit
Didn't wanted to tease you. I just want to tell you that you are conversating in this topic about things which are useless.
