Cannot map keyboard keys using dock

Postby tanaqud » Mon Apr 30, 2012 12:55 am

I have a transformer primer with the keyboard dock, and when I try to map the keyboard keys to anything, it doesn't work.

Bug, or am I doing something wrong?

I don't have a doc, but I can use my USB OTC cable to plug in a usb keyboard. I did ... and it worked for me with no problems. Sorry guys. If I get a doc I can test...

The obvious question is: does the keyboard work outside of fpse? i assume it does. Can you use it with other emulators? does it let you map the keys, but they just don't work?

Well the dock works with other emulators like nes.emu, snesdroid and the megadrive emu.
But this one does't work with the keyboard and i have the same problem with n64oid.

I'm french so sorry for my bad english.

your english is fine.

can you map the keys in the emulator, but they don't work in the game? or, are you not able to map the keys at all?

This is what i get in the joypad menu:

And then i assign HW buttons with the keyboard but the only keys who actually work are the 4 directionnal keys, the others don't respond.

does it let you map the keys from the 'assign hw button' screen? can you successfully map the keys on that screen?

if you can map the keys, the problem is that the buttons don't work, correct? the direction pad mapped keys work, but the x, o, square, triangle, start, select, l1,l2,r1,r2 keys don't work, correct?

do you have the gamepad set to analog or digital? try switching it.

The problem is that when I go into the assign HW keys screen, the system *appears* to accept the key assignment. For example, I go in and tell it I want left mapped to the "a" key, and it appears to accept it.

So, for example, I might map Left-Right-Up-Down to A-D-W-S.

However, no matter what I assign, the only keys it recognizes input for appears to be the arrow keys in the bottom right corner of the dock, as well as a couple others in that same area (control and shift keys, I believe).

So if I map the circle-triangle-square-cross to the arrow keys, and the directions to ASWD, it only recognizes the former. If I do the reverse, and have the directionals to the arrow keys, it sees them, but not ASWD.

FPSE is simply not accepting functioning input from the entire keyboard, even though it appears to accept the mapping.

Yes keypads are set to digital.

It finally work for me:
All you need to do is to go on app like snesdroid, then go on map keyboard.
It will propose you to use the transformer keyboard or the android Kb.
Choose the android one and it'll appear a warning message saying that you're desactivating the transformer Kb.
Say yes and then return to Fpse, map the keys and enjoy ^^ !

Good tip. As an alternate, I tried just setting my default keyboard (in Settings) from the Asus KB to the Android one, and it works as well.
