backing up fpse when switching roms

i have paid version of fpse have not switched roms for a while because i have been playing first 2 versions of oddworld and didnt want to lose saves or mess up games in any way , some of the roms i can use on my tronsmart s89-h wipe everything as they install ,Question is can i just backup the app and reinstall on any rom i change to will this work ,i mean i like this app but i dont want to pay for it every time i change rom.
