Crashes when I try to enable cheats

Hey, so I'm having a bit of trouble here. For which I probably won't be able to be helped. Which is fine. I'm running this emulator on a Kindle Fire HD that is rooted, and bootloaded with the Cyanogenmod 10.1 rom. I'm play Mega Man Legends I. Everything works, though, if I try to access the enable cheats menu, it crashes invariably. I am able to access the menu before I load the cheats.txt file, though nothing's there. Does anyone have any suggestions?
