Mapping Wired Xbox 360 Controller

Postby gazzman89 » Mon Feb 18, 2013 8:26 pm

Hey, I'm new here so forgive me if this topic has come up before... but I have just tried to map the controls for my wired Xbox 360 controller and fpse doesn't seem to register the left/right trigger (L2/R2) buttons :/ Do I need to alter settings in fpse to get them to work? Or is it just a straight no-go? If that is the case, is a wired PS3 fully compatible?

Cheers

Hi everyone, sorry to reply to an old thread, but I didnt want to open a new topic for this. I just purchased fpse and while most things are working perfectly, the left and right trigger buttons of my controllers (standard wired xbox 360 and MadCatz SfXT Fightpad) arent recognized during button mapping (all other buttons are working fine). Is there a solution or workaround for this?

Hi again,
as nobody has an answer, can I conclude that the left and right trigger buttons LT&RT (as well as the right analog stick) of XBOX360 controllers are in fact not compatible with FPSe? :? If so, I think the "Full native support for Xbox 360 pads[...]"-part should be removed from the product description in the Google Play store, since it is misleading. It is not really "full native support" if 20% of the controls don't work. :(

Hmm, too bad that nobody can help. Apart from the XBox controller incompatibility, FPse seems like a nice PSX-Emulator. I guess I have to look for another emulator, more suitable for my needs. If any of the developers is reading this: Please remove the "Full native support for Xbox 360 pads" from the product description in the play store, so that other people who need or want to use a fully functioning xbox controller dont waste their money.

Hi, thanks very much for your reply. If I understand correctly, Bluez IME works only with some Bluetooth Controllers, doesnt it? Both of my controllers are wired, so I guess it wont help. I will try it out, though.
I'm sure that it is not a general problem with xbox controllers, because in my N64 emulator (mupen64 plus) both, the trigger buttons as well as the right analog stick, work flawlessly. However, most of the available emulators for Android (for example every MAME "emulator" I tried, CPSemu, one of the available snes emulators (I forgot the name) and I think epsxe) have the same exact problem.

This is an old, well-known annoyance for everyone who tried to get an XBox controller to work in Linux, but in Linux it is always possible to remap the button presses to keyboard commands. As far as I know, this is not possible in Android unfortunately.

Hi and thanks again for your answer. Yes I'm currently "investigating", if it is possible to use Joystick Center 8 for remapping the trigger buttons. I will happily pay for it, if it means that I can use FPse and all those other emulators with full XBox controller support. But since the Joystick Center can do so many things, it is hard to find information for this specific problem. Either way, I will buy it I guess, since the JoyToTouch option is also a great feature :)

Yes, I tried the new version 0.11.113. I was sooo excited when I read the release notes this morning, but unfortunately it doesnt fix the problem. Maybe the next update....

Again, thanks very much for your help!

No support for the L2/R2 triggers yet? I have to buy a third party app to fix something like this? Seriously?
