Buttons not working in analog mode

I posted this in device support a few weeks ago but haven't gotten any answers yet so I figured I'd try posting this here

Since adding support for the analog pads on the xperia play with 2.3, when I set the game pad settings to analog the other buttons on the game pad only function as directional buttons.

I don't know if this is just me misunderstanding how this feature is meant to work, or if I'm having a problem.

I am currently running gingerbread 2.33 root, but am willing to upgrade to ICS if it will fix my problem.

Im not sure my problem is slightly diff but i know the cause, when i have analog mode turned on for some games none of the buttons respond at all, i believe its because some games simply do not support analog mode as switching to digital works...if it works on some games and not others for you i would believe it to be the same cause.
