Optimal settings for Samsung Galaxy SIII

Hi.

I recently bought FPse for my new Samsung Galaxy SIII, downloaded the SCPH1001.bin ROM and loaded the ISO files for Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy IX on my phone. My game experience is very erratic and I've played around with all the settings to no avail. Is there anybody who has figured out what the best settings for these two games are? Answers for both software and OpenGL would be nice. I'm looking for fps >= 30.

Also feel free to post optimal settings of other games on the SIII in this thread. I'll share some of my findings a bit later on, I just don't have my phone with me at the moment.

Thanks.

Playing the very same games with the same phone so I would totally like to know those settings too :)

I played around even more with the settings. Not using OpenGL right now, as it only gives problems and slooooow framerate. My game runs smoothly, but I don't have any sound! Here are my settings:

SYSTEM
Boost Mode: O
Autosave: O
Dynamic Interpreter: O
Fast Boot: X

AUDIO
Null Sound Plugin: O
Spusync: O
Enhance Sound Emulation: O
Mute: O
Reduce Latency: O

VIDEO
Framelimiter: O
Frameskip: X
Print FPS: X
Special Screen Size: O
Screenfiltering: O
Brightness Boost: X
Force Landscape Orientation: X
Invertcolours: O
Enhanced 3D Rendering: X
Hardware Acceleration: X
Boost High Res Games: O

(where O means unselected and X means selected)

I literally just finished my playthrough of ff9 on my S3 so...

Here's what I have (Some of which you absolutely need to have on at all times regardless of what you are playing)

System- None of them checked. I've found fastboot to be really buggy and sometimes just freezes up my fpse. The ps loading screens really aren't that long :P

Audio-
Spusync- YOU NEED TO HAVE THIS CHECKED AT ALL TIMES. This is likely why you have no sound at all. As far as I know, you still need to close fpse entirely (use the task manager if you have to) and then start it up again for most of these options to take effect unless that's been changed.

Enhance sound emulation- I dunno if it does anything, but why the hell not. I leave it checked anyway, and my sound is 100% perfect in every game I've played (except one time in suikoden where a unite attack gave me a really obnoxious screech, that was a rare thing though.

Dunno if the other options do anything, don't care atm unless someone tells me they do something that I'm missing.

Video
Framelimiter- There is no reason to have this unchecked to be honest with you.... you know... unless you like the idea of setting your gpu ablaze This limits you to 60 fps which you will not have any problems at all getting on this phone. I don't see any reason at all to let your phone be chugging away at 100+ fps when it makes zero difference to your game. (if you tab out of fpse without closing it, sometimes it bugs out and lets fps fly again, causing your game to go into superspeed, but this doesn't happen often and I couldn't reproduce it)
Frameskip- I didn't need this till a couple updates ago, but I do now. If I had this unchecked, I'd get 30fps on a regular basis (10-20 or less in battles).
Printfps- ...not needed, but I like to see my constant 55-60
Screenfiltering- Again, no idea what this does, but it seemed to help in the big picture
Enhanced 3d rendering- Saw no difference so I dunno if it does anything, but again what the hell why not.
Boost high res games- Same as above

Now, with all of those checked... open your task manager and kill fpse. Then re-open it and start up ff9. You should be thoroughly amazed by the crisp sounds and non-choppy gameplay. However, you will get slowdown on big explody spells and summons, but it's minor.

I do not use OpenGL. I have no interest in opening that can of worms (no pun intended). The graphics aren't perfect, but they do me just fine and I get perfect sound and fps to boot.

If this doesn't work, don't shoot me. I tried, and I'm not sure why our phones are different :P

P.S. I've used this exact setup for every other game I have played as well, and they all play just as perfectly

Original poster might not have tried it, but as a Galaxy SIII owner about to dive into FPse I appreciate you sharing your settings! :D

good info btw there are two breeds of Galaxy S3....

It would be useful to indicate which one you are providing the settings for 1 or 2 below,
assuming fpse takes advantage of the two hardware differently:

1.International - Quad core 1.4Ghz / 1GB RAM / GPU Mali400
2.North America - Dual core 1.5Ghz / 2GB RAM / Adreno 255

;)

Whoa. That was a new news for me  Why would they make so big differences in same model of the phone. You would think that those north american specs are for SGS III Mini or something.

I have the north american version I guess. 2gb ram, 1.5ghz dual core etc

And you're welcome to whoever it worked for. Glad I could help :)

Thought I would share the best OpenGL settings I could find since no one else has yet,
If a setting isn't mentioned assume its not enabled.

Galaxy S3 International Version / Fpse v11.57
Final Fantasy 7 (NTSC) (OpenGL mode):

System:

Nothing Enabled

Audio:
Spusync
Pitch effects

Video:
Print FPS
Original screen size
Adjust framebuffer access
Special upload detection
OffscreenDrawing
Alpha Multipass
Texture filtering
Special frame limiter
FF7 cursor fix

Not enabling any frameskip actually makes the game run smoother/higher fps! :o
Enabling Reduce latency seems to slow fps down aswell.......
Also cant seem to enable Reverb effects may be a bug.

Hope this helps someone.
