Multiplayer? Two Xperia Plays

Greetings and good morning. My friend and I both have xperia play's as well as copies of FPSe and we were wondering if there was someway possible for us to both play games multiplayer together using our respective phones. I could have sworn I almost had it, we connected both of our phones by bluetooth and then I went to start up Marvel vs Capcom and FPSe asked me if I wanted to use a paired device and I clicked on the other xperia play but it just said not connected and didn't do anything else from there. If possible could I please have a quick walkthrough on playing multiplayer with two Xperia Play's
