A newbie with a couple questions

Postby JohnW » Fri Jul 06, 2012 10:33 pm

I am a newbie to FPse and have a couple simple questions. Thanks for any help.

1) Does FPse handle multiple disk sets such as Wing Commander?

2) Was is the best way to compress .img and .bin files to use with FPse?

3) Is there an active list showing what games work?

Thanks again

John

So what happens when it needs the next image file? Does it just look for it in the folder?

I have lots of room so I will not compress for now.

I have one game called Philosoma that plays fine with Psx4droid but hangs in FPse when loading. For now like I said I am just trying some of my shootemups. Since I am using a Phonejoy I would like it to work in FPse.

Thanks for your help

Well for some reason I can't get the analog function for Phonejoy working with FPse. I read somewhere that others have had problems for awhile now with a FPse upgrade awhile back. Hope it gets resolved.

One more question. How do you use memory card slots function? Do I just create a folder and point it to that or do I need some special files?

I'm curious about the memory card function too JohnW. Originally I did a 'backup settings' from the misc menu, copied the .mcd (memory card) files to my sd card, and pointed FPSE to there. I also copied those memory cards to back them up. But - how do I format them / erase them? some games allow you to do that when they get full - but that's not a great way to deal with memory cards. I tried creating a blank file and pointed FPSE to it, and it saw and recognized it and tired to format it - but it said 'format failed', so that didn't work. I tired creating a new blank folder and pointing to it, btu that didn't work either.

How do you create new memory cards? Alternatively, how do you get to the BIOS screen so that you can deal with memory cards (format, copy save games around, etc)?

I finally downloaded PSX MC Manager. I would rather not have had to get another app though.

Well hopefully someone will answer the memory card questions. I have been in contact with Phonejoy and ran some tests. It works fine in N64oid and even following the instructions for FPse it will not work. The way it works with both those games is pretty similar.

I was hoping to have some other Phonejoy user verify if it does work and there is something wrong on my end.

Phonejoy sent me a test apk for Bluez-IME using Phonejoy and the analog inputs are working fine.

try booting to the bios screen and going to memory card to delete the files.

Got it. Turn off Fast Boot (thanks i900FrenchAddict). Close out of FPSE then reopen FPSE (gotta close out and reopen for setting to apply). Then:

1. Select FPse (i.e. open FPSE, which you may have already done)
2. Select a game and wait for it to start (wait for it to get to it's main start screen, if you go too soon you may get license error)
3. Press Menu and select eject
4. Press Back when prompted for iso to load, to get back to game
5. Press Menu again and select Quit, then restart (this simulates resetting the PS1 with no game in it, it will boot to BIOS).
