fpse wont start. Save state recovery/backup outside of app?

Since the last update fpse wont run. It immediately freezes then crashes. I suspect i may have updated opengl with a corrupt file. My question is: can i back up my save states if i cant access the app? Im thinking im going to have to uninstall/re-install the app in order to get a healthy opengl loaded (which would wipe my save states - no bueno).
