Can I ask.. Why is this?
Why does it need to be so much faster?
Is it because Emulators require other operating systems to run them?

The origional console runs on hardware within it. Although the psp was only like 300 mhz i believe its totally different in emulation. Emulators run based off of software and thus take a giant amount more resources. Thats it in a nut shell, maybe if what they say about ice cream sandwich is true then emulators will be able to run on our phones utilizing the hardware a lot more.
