FPSE, how can i backup saves? ffviii problems

Postby HoooF » Mon Apr 25, 2011 8:40 am

hi guys, my first question is how can i backup my saves?(i tried to locate them with not success) and if I update to a new version of fpse does it delete the old saves?
im using htc desire HD.

about ffviii,
untill the end of cd 3 it works great..one exception are the movies which are not played, the screen is grey while they are played.
the sound is good. the game works smooth.

in the end of disk 3, after squell and rinoa are at the Ragnarok, squell having a conversation at the deck and in the end he deactivate the gravity field.
then the game is stuck..the screen aint frozen but nothing happens.(when he sits in the pilot chair and rinoa standing in the far end of the room)
i searched a lot about the problem, is a well known one and there are some solution on fpsece version.
i tried to turn on and off the sound.(then try again, with no success).

*im using the scph1001 bios

thanks.

Hey HoooF!

I've got an own Thread with an nearly equal topic - lets see if we can help each other.
First on top - my english is not the best - pls make it easy for me ;)
Ive got an Xperia Play with the free variety of the FPSE with Bios 1001 - but i treid 1002 and 7502 with no difference.
My Game files are .bin + .cue (the FPSE doesnt notice the .bin files without an .cue file)

Which savefiles do you mean? the "real" memorycard savegames or the "Savestates" memory files?
Each of them are in the path you directed.
The Memory Card 1 and 2 are an an .mcd file right on my phone in no folder.
The Savestates path folder is directed on my own. You will find it in the FPSE System Preferences menu.

My Sounds are between bad and worse.
The OST tracks sound like they are ripped - even on the bedder mode.
The Sounds in the menu are totally different - i dont know why.

The Problem with the grey movie screen is exactly the same - except the intro.
On the score of the freeze problem - i'm afraid i cannot help.

No if got a GIANT Problem. Its a little difficult to explain it in english but pls let me try.
Till the end of disc 1 everything is fine.
Now if got the save for disc 2 (virtuall memory card save).
My other game cd's (2-4) are in the same direction and i can start them but nothin happens - black screen without any vital sign.
Now the funny part begins!
If i do it like in real life - insert disk 1 - load save for disk 2 - the request for disk 2 appears - and i inserst disk 2 the game runs!
So i created a savegame on disk to with laguna.
Even funnier it is that i can load it and play it with disk 1 insert!!!
But if i press circle - the FPSE crashes.

I hope this was understandable.

greetings.

JinZo

HoooF:
No, it does not delete your old saves if you update. Press the menu button/system, scroll down to "Backup all files".

JinZo:
There is no free variety of the FPSE.

JinZo,

i hope i understood you correctly. i will tell you what i did.

when you finish a disk,a "real game" save appears, then save the game to the memory card. then a screen "insert disk 2".
then open disk 2, do eject or restart fpse..wait for the game to start normally.. and load you save from before.. like you will do if you play with ps1. this how it worked to me... then you can save with the fpse and the save stats will appear only on disk 2.

hope it helped.

HooF.

Tatsumaki,
thanks!

Hey HoooF!

If got it working but with a little effort.

Start the game with CD1 and load a CD2 save.
Change to CD2.
After the savegame has been loaded i can finally load the FPSE saves.

PS. One CD2 the cut scenes are no longer grey. they are shown perfectly. no idea why.

THX!
