Cannot Save/Load Gran Turismo 2

Hi,
I cannot seem to load or save a game without a message stating that the savedata is corrupt.
I am using the Xperia play and the latest release of FPSE. I am using the SPH1001 bios. The problem seems to effect both the arcade and the simulation disc. It was previously working but after a wipe of my phone and a re-install of FPSE I cannot get it working!
I had a few issues last time I installed but after some faffing about I got it going. Wish I could remember what I did!
