I was wondering is there anyone who managed to get RE:Directors Cut to work. First time i've tried it and it says it's running at 60fps but it definitely isn't. Very laggy in game, not playable. I read the compatibilty list and it says there that the game will run. Any help? Thanks.

I Know exactly what your problem is ..
You are using NTSC-U version ..

if you use the PAL version you'll never get any lag and the game will run very smoothely
be sure to rip XA Streams to MP3 and use Enhanced XA Detection ..

the only disappointment is that the music is different from the NTSC-U version .. it is not the same CREEPY and SCARY music but it is not that bad ..

if you want to stick with the old music try the old RE with no director's cut NTSC-U version .. that should do it ..

thanks very much, i'll see if i can get hold of a PAL version. I originally owned a PAL version anyway, but can't find the disk. So I wouldn't be too bothered about it being different because that's what I'm used to. The directors cut version has auto-aim, the original doesn't if I remember correctly. That's why i went for that one. Cheers again.

I got a Resident Evil: Director's Cut rom that is kinda strange. Is the game supposed to be misaligned? . The screen is not centered, instead it's abit to the right. And also, when the mainscreen has loaded it suddenly starts to play the music of the first FMV (right after choosing New Game and a character), even though I haven't done anything yet . I got a bad rom and need to rerip it again? . Oh yeah, I've tried different settings also but nothing seems to help...

Same problem I had, I gave up in the end. Couldn't find a decent ROM or a PAL version that worked.
Went onto RE: Nemesis instead...

Damn. That's too bad! I LOVE RE1, and Director's Cut got more than the original. Gonna have to get me the original then

Did you rip yours from a disk you own?

I tried downloading a PAL version because the NTSC version I had was terrible. Misaligned screen, weird sound problems and very laggy in game. Though the PAL version I downloaded was exactly the same, if it even was PAL. Wish I could find my original disk to rip it from.

Ye I can confirm/admit that my rom was downloaded! . Thinking about going on a shopping spree though. Getting all the games I want for PS1. Problem is from where? . Can't really be bought from any shop near where I live atleast. Some games are really rare too. Got FF7-9 atleast (yey). But only managed to rip FF7 because of DVD-RW drive problems.

I have the original resident Evil 1, that I ripped, and must confess I downloaded the director's cut too
PAL version.
