Post Does DirectX makes your games faster?
Hello, i tried the new version with the DirectX fix today.

So I just changed my ini to gfxdrv=4

I tested on FFVII us and Resident Evil 3 jap and I have at most same fps then gfxdrv=3 (it wasn't sure to get better fps I guess).

The directX driver seem to be a little caprisouc too, sometimes i get a 5/15 fps drop + a crash if I slide my screen (in order to get to the emulator menu). Even after some soft reset, the problem can stay. I changed back my gfxdrv back to 3 and everything is back to normal.

And you guys? how does the DirectX works for you?

:o :o :o

It works with the newest supporter version. Time to do some testing.....

EDIT: After some testing with GFXDRV=4 with Twisted Metal 2. I actually get lower FPS than with GFXDRV=3. In some areas the game runs 10 FPS slower and in others ~5FPS slower. So far I have tried NeoS2007 Drivers & ATI D3D drivers. Both driver packs have consistent results on both GFXDRV=4 & =3.

The new release is having an issue on crashing when keyboard opened for me for GFX4...but I agree with Ryo so far when it was running in landscape with the KB closed and overlay controls I saw better FPS with GFX3. I'm using the ATI D3D driver.

Ryo, do you play with sound enabled or disabled? What kind of FPS do you see in Twisted Metal 2?

I play with sound disabled. On average anywhere from 32-42 FPS on Twisted Metal 2 (sometimes a bit lower).

EDIT: This is with the PAL TM2. Not sure about the NTSC version.

Are there special video drivers to install on our phone? I hadn't heard of any such thing.

The TP2 already comes with decent drivers, but there is a different set you can try called NeoS2007.

Well, I tried Neo's drivers as well as the atom drivers and didn't notice any difference. May be my imagination, but it actually seemed worse. Oh well. Doesn't look like there's any development going on with these things anymore either.

Today I recvd an email with the latest supporter version. 1-24-10 explaining that directx now works with the tp2. I tried today on 2 different games by changing the numerical value to 4 but I really didn't notice any difference? How about you guys?

The DirectX fix was when you slide out the keyboard it would crash. He fixed that, but unfortunately on our devices some games could run slower or the same. I am looking for any games that may run better.
