I'll try out my copy of Tomb Raider 2 and 3 and see if I can cause the problem but I'll be busy this weekend so hopefully someone else will have a few ideas until I can test it.

At what point does it break when you press start or select? Are you in game? On the main menu? Something else?

I've written a minor disertation on the FPSE and OpenGL. @storm20200 - how could you play ffviii for hours with opengl? the 8 secons to load fight scenes makes opengl more or less unusable in that game (which sucks). EDIT: Are you running with the software GPU or the OpenGL plugin?

The difference is a huge difference in quality. softGPU is generally quite pixelated and rough looking but that can be cured a bit by using texture filtering and stuff. OpenGL renders everything with OpenGL so 3D textures look fantastic, ESPECIALLY on a small screen. However, OpenGL requires a lot o...

What I meant was that if you get your hands on an NTSC copy it should work without issue. However if you aren't dying to play it another fix would be to use FPse's subchannel support feature which would make your disc work. I believe this could be interpreted as asking for piracy advice which I don't think is condoned on the forum.

What I can say is that only the European versions of the game use protection that causes the black screen.... ;)
